Shows on the Control One and Engine units (standalone)
Droplit writes your shows into a perfectly normal SoundSwitch project. So when you transfer this project for use without a computer, your new shows come along. Without a computer, though, the Engine Lighting limits apply.
Step by step
- First check the new shows in SoundSwitch on the computer, in the copy “… Show-Designer”.
- For standalone use, transfer exactly this copy to your Engine unit, the same way you usually do with your SoundSwitch project. Droplit itself doesn’t write anything directly to devices.
- Play the shows once on the unit, ideally while setting up with your lights.
Good to know
- With the Control One on the computer you drive SoundSwitch directly. Then all 4 static look banks and layered looks are available (from SoundSwitch 2.11).
- Standalone (Control One on a PRIME 4, SC6000 and similar, or Engine Lighting on the PRIME 4) there are static looks from bank 1 only, one at a time. Put everything you need without a computer into bank 1.
- The Control One only sends DMX universe 1. Fixtures with addresses above 512 get no signal there.
- According to user reports, Autoloops on Engine units only run while a track is playing.
- Song shows only run for songs that are linked with SoundSwitch in this project.
- You can see beforehand what you can reach on the unit in live mode with “PRIME 4”, or with “Control One” and “Engine unit (standalone)”. See What’s different on the real device.
- For setting up, the Studio offers a setup test for Autoloops: every light on its own, then all red, green, blue and white. Play it on the Control One while setting up.
Questions
Do I need anything special from Droplit for the Control One?
No. For SoundSwitch these are perfectly normal Autoloops, looks and song scripts.
I transferred the original and don’t see the new shows.
The new shows are only in the copy “… Show-Designer”. Transfer the copy.
If something goes wrong
- A look is missing on the unit: it’s probably in banks 2–4. Standalone there is only bank 1.
- A fixture stays dark: check whether its address is above 512 (universe 2).
- Autoloops don’t run on the unit: start a track. According to user reports they don’t run without a playing track.
