The show looks different in SoundSwitch
If your show looks different in SoundSwitch than in the preview, there is usually one of a few reasons. Go through the points in order.
Step by step
- Right project? SoundSwitch must have the copy “… Show-Designer” open, not the original.
- Right venue? If your project has several venues, pick the tab with your lights at the top.
- Overwritten? If SoundSwitch had the project open while you saved, it wrote its old state when switching. Open another project in SoundSwitch, save again in Droplit, then open the copy.
- Overrides on? A fixed color, strobe or position override in SoundSwitch or on the Control One covers the show.
- Looks on? A static look sits on top of the Autoloop. In SoundSwitch 2.11 the one turned on last wins.
- Tempo? In Edit mode, SoundSwitch plays loops at the editor tempo. On the night they follow the music.
- Compare with the real values: the Art-Net preview shows in the visualizer what SoundSwitch really sends.
Good to know
- Fixtures you hid in “Fixtures & stage” stay dark in new shows.
- Droplit only drives fixtures with addresses above 512 if you confirmed universe 2.
- Moving heads only point at the dance floor if the project has positions. Without positions they point wherever SoundSwitch puts them.
- Gobo effects only work if SoundSwitch has Attribute Cues for gobos.
- Mixed colors often look different on real LEDs than on screen.
- More background: Why the preview can look different from SoundSwitch.
If something goes wrong
- SoundSwitch still plays the old show: see steps 1 and 3.
- Lights stay dark although the show is running: check the venue tab (step 2), then the address and whether the fixture is hidden.
- “… fixtures aren’t in the song script (SoundSwitch saved it before a patch change). …”: open the song in SoundSwitch and save, switch projects, save again in Droplit.
Still not working? With you can send us a screenshot. Ideally describe which show, which bank or song, and what looks different.
More from “Troubleshooting”
- The folder can’t be sharedIn the web version, Droplit works directly with the folder that holds your SoundSwitch projects. To do that, you share this folder in the browser once. If that fails, it is almost always down to the browser or the wrong folder.free to read
- “Loading the Python core …” is stuckThe web version calculates your shows right in the browser. To do that, it loads a calculation core at startup. While that is running, the top shows “Loading the Python core …”. If it stays there, one of the following steps usually helps.free to read
- A project doesn’t appear in the listThe start page shows all SoundSwitch projects Droplit can find. If one is missing, it usually sits in a different folder or has never been saved in SoundSwitch with lights.free to read
- A song is missing from the listDroplit only shows songs for which SoundSwitch has already created a file in your project. That only happens once you open the song in SoundSwitch and save.free to read
- Song listed twice in SoundSwitch: move a showIf a song is in SoundSwitch twice, for example as “Song.wav” and “Song..wav”, a show can easily end up on the entry you never load at the gig. “Move show” copies it to the second entry with one click.free to read
