Load and line up a 3D scan of the location

A 3D scan is the real location as a model. You scan the hall with your phone, load the file as GLB, and the scan replaces walls, ceiling and floor. Your lights then shine onto the real location.

Step by step

  1. Scan the hall. On an iPhone or iPad with LiDAR (Effect lanesls), use Polycam, Scaniverse or “3d Scanner App” in room mode and walk around slowly once. Without LiDAR, use photogrammetry, e.g. Polycam “Photo” or Luma. That takes longer but often looks even more real.
  2. Export the scan as GLB (binary glTF) with JPG or PNG textures, without Draco compression, preferably at “reduced” or “medium” detail.
  3. Click “3D scan” and drag the GLB file onto the area, or click it and pick the file.
Drag the GLB file into the area.
Drag the GLB file into the area.
  4. The visualizer puts the scan on the floor, centered in front of the back wall, and fits the room size to the scan. The message tells you how many triangles the scan has.
  5. If the scan's DJ wall isn't at the back, expand the “3D scan” block in the “Location” area and click “↺ 90°” or “↻ 90°” until it's behind the booth. The room adjusts along with it.
  6. Make fine corrections with the “Rotate”, “sideways”, “forward” and “Height” sliders. If the scan is too big or too small, change the “Scale” (50–200 %).
    Fine-tune with the sliders.

  7. “Fit room to scan” sets the room size back to the size of the scan, for example after you've changed it under “Room & size”.
