Setting a clip's properties

In the “Properties” tab you set everything about a clip: effect, fixtures, start, length, colors and speed. With no clip selected, it shows the settings and checks of the whole show.

Adjust the selected clip here.

Step by step

  1. Click a clip. At the top you see its name, the group and a short description of the effect.
  2. “Base effect”: swap the effect here. The list only shows effects that fit this group. What each effect does is explained in Base effects: what each effect does.
  3. “Fixtures”: all fixtures, a subset like “left”, or “custom …” and then tap the numbers of the fixtures.
  4. “Start (bar)” and “Length (beats)”: type numbers when dragging isn't precise enough. A bar has 4 beats.
  5. Below are the effect's settings, e.g. brightness in percent, grid or step in beats, direction, colors. Every change shows in the preview right away.
  6. Colors: a swatch 1–6 takes a palette color, the rainbow swatch a custom color. In color sequences, “+” adds a color and “×” removes it.
  7. Positions (e.g. “Position change”): each position in the list has its own dropdown. ▲ moves it one place up, × removes it, “+ Position” adds another one. The heads move to the positions in this order.
  8. At the bottom: “Save as custom effect …”, “Duplicate (⌘D)”, “Split at playhead (S)”, “Delete (⌫)”.
